This approach is outcome based on Character, knowledge and skills.

Brelim Charity aims at reaching all kinds and depths of HIV/AIDS afflicted orphans and vulnerable children in both rural and urban communities through various means especially the teaching of the love and virtue of Jesus Christ.

OUR HISTORY

Brelim Charity - Uganda was founded in January 2005 by Pastor Tonny Bayimuse (Director, Breath of Life Ministries International) and his wife Patricia after a burden was put on their hearts following Tonny's gruesome birth and childhood story, to minister to destitute children in Uganda.

Brelim Charity started with as few as  5 children and now the number has increased to 120 children. Today the national ministry is growing to impact the lives of children in different corners of Iganga.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

We support and protect widows and children from all forms of maltreatment.

This is an independent, indigenous, Christian church-based, non-governmental organization with a passion for bringing hope and adding value to rural African communities through parenting orphaned children in HIV/AIDS-ravaged communities, economic empowerment for improved household income, food security, evangelism, church planting and discipleship.

ORPHAN HOMES:

BRELIM  places a very high value on families and would not consider putting orphaned kids in institutions. Some situations, however, prove too hostile for the orphaned and abandoned kids and require some form of smaller, more-intimate residential care. BRELIM at present takes care of 70 loving homes to 140 kids between the ages of 3 months to 17 years in Bulamagi sub county, Iganga District. The children are fully part of their community, attending Breath of Life Church planted by BRELIM as well as nearby schools.

How Brelim Charity Relates with a Child:

The Child and Widow Ministry of Brelim Charity is a Tripartite Partnership

FOSTER CARE

Most orphaned children with family ties are supported by extended family. BRELIM provides education support, medical attention, school uniforms and scholastic materials to these children. Without it, these less-privileged children would have no access to education and medical care.

ADVOCACY:

Communities in Africa still harbor what tradition considers the ‘disciplining of children.’ This includes setting kids ablaze, cutting off ears, tying them with ropes against trees, and throwing them out of the house for offenses such as not greeting elders, not kneeling before older people, eating food before meals are served, etc. The prevalence of these cultural evils is what stirred BRELIM to start advocacy programs to be a voice for these innocent kids battered in the name of discipline. We sensitize communities about Biblically-acceptable disciplinary measures as a means of restoring dignity to our society.

How do we intervene?

Corrective and preventive interventions

Corrective:

  • Child psychosocial support
  • Child facilitation to access to justice.
